How to Know That You are Losing Hair



Today let us try to get a general idea about the nature of hair loss. You may find big words such as alopecia, alopecia areata or androgenic alopecia in different sources with regard to hair loss. But don’t be scared. All those will be explained in simple language in a coming article. It has been said that understanding the problem is half solved it. So we shall have a close look at hair loss problem and try to understand it as much as we can.

The first question is how do you know that you are suffering from hair loss in the first instance? If you observe an unusual loosing of hair when you wipe and dab your head after having a bath or when you comb your hair, it may be a matter to concern. If you observe hair is gathered in the towel or your comb a bit more than usual you may be suffering from hair loss.
But this may be a temporary situation which could be improved in couple of weeks. However if the situation prevails and the rate of loosing hair is in an increasing trend you should be alert and be cautious about further improvements. Hair loss could be started suddenly or it could be developed gradually in which case it is hardly noticeable. Hair loss could take place on entire body or could be confined to the scalp. The dangerous side of hair loss is, in certain instances the effect of hair loss could be permanent.

Hair loss could be identified by the following symptoms



Gradual thinning on top of the head
This is the most common category of hair loss which affect to both male and female. Hair starts to recede from the forehead of men which resembles to letter “M”. Women usually lose hair in a line in the middle of the head starting from forehead and experience a broadening of this line with time.


Circular or patchy bald spots
Some people have bald spots appear as patches usually on the scalp, but rarely on beard and eyebrows as well. The patches may be of one inch diameter. Persons with this type of hair loss may feely itchy or painful before the hair falls out



Sudden Loosening of hair
Hair could also be fallen out due to a physical or emotional shock. This affects to entire head of hair and leads to an overall thinning of hair without leaving spots or patches. You can observe this type of hair loss by coming out handfuls of hair when combing, washing or even at a slight pulling out of hair.

Full body of hair loss
Hair loss could be taken place on entire body including scalp due to certain medical treatments such as chemotherapy treatment for cancer. However the hair usually grow back after finishing the treatments

Therefore if you observe any unusually excessive lose of hair from your head or body when you comb your hair, wash your head or when slightly pull out your hair, it should be considered as an alarming sign to seek medical advises without delay.
